No specific time or event triggering the crash; it just crashes after 5 to 15 minutes. Then again, despite the many improvements on Skype, the new version is only compatible with Mac OS X. For macOS Mojave users, there seems to be a few issues. While some users reported that Skype is slow in macOS Mojave, others say Skype causes high CPU usage.
There are known microphone issues for Skype for Business running on macOS Catalina (version 10.15).
To check the macOS version, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu.

- Restart the Mac.
- Go to the Apple menu then click on System Preferences.
- Open 'Security & Privacy' and click on the Privacy.
- Fix #1. Click on 'Microphone' and find Skype for Business on the list. If Skype for Business is not on the list, go to Fix #2.
- Check the box next to Skype for Business. If it is already checked, then uncheck it and recheck the box.
Note: You might need to unlock the padlock and confirm the change. - Restart computer by clicking the Apple menu and clicking Restart
- Check the box next to Skype for Business. If it is already checked, then uncheck it and recheck the box.
- Fix #2. If Skype for Business is not listed under 'Microphone', go to 'Camera' and find Skype for Business on the list. If Skype for Business is not on the list, go to Fix #3.
- Uncheck the box next to Skype for Business. If it is already checked, then uncheck it.

- Open Skype for Business. Skype will ask for permission to use the camera and the microphone. Click Allow.

- Fix #3. Uninstall Skype for Business and install the previous version of Skype for Business.
- Go to Finder > Application and drag 'Skype for Business' from the list of applications to the Trash
- Download Skype installer package to your computer
- Restart the computer by clicking the Apple menu and clicking Restart
- Find the Skype for Business Installer Package (called SkypeforBusinessInstaller-16-28-0-142.pkg) and double click to install Skype for Business. Read Installing Skype for Business on a Mac for more help in installing the app
- Restart the computer again by clicking the Apple menu and clicking Restart
- Open Skype for Business.
- Fix #1. Click on 'Microphone' and find Skype for Business on the list. If Skype for Business is not on the list, go to Fix #2.
